JiFu Café

There are various communities with distinctive cultures, lifestyles and backgrounds in every city. To reach out and interact with these communities in order share the Gospel and our faith, there is a need for us to adapt and reach out to them through a variety of activities.  This sincere outreach in lending a helping hand in their studies and daily lives enabled us to build a trusting relationship and forming a friendship with them.

JiFu Café, formally Jifu Dumpling Canteen, was set up as a platform to reach out to the young Chinese students studying at Vietnam National University, Hanoi. JiFu Café is not only an eatery that sells dumplings but it also acts as a bridge to connect with these students to extend our warmth and care to them. Through such interactions, friendships are built which provides opportunities for us to invite the students to our Gospel meetings.

However, due to the recent pandemic, many Chinese students from China were unable to return to Vietnam National University to continue with their studies for an extended period. As the Café serves mainly these Chinese students, the Café suffered a significant lose in revenue while having to continue servicing rental and wage payments. As such, Jifu Café had to be temporarily closed till these Chinese students return.

We were very thankful to our co-workers who had not given up on this ministry but had instead took the opportunity to transform the eatery into JiFu Café, which will feature a new cafeteria concept. The Café will start an Alpha Happy Hour to strengthen our outreach and interaction with the Chinese students when they are back at the end of 2020. We look forward to welcoming them again.
