Hanoi Chinese Church
Christianity was first introduced into Vietnam more than a hundred years ago. However, Christianity was only concentrated in the southern parts of Vietnam, around Ho Chi Minh City, but none in the north, where Hanoi is.
Pastor Theng Wanting had been serving the Chinese Alliance Church in Ho Chi Minh City for 30 years and was approaching her retirement age in 2010. She was however burdened with the need to set up a church to serve the Chinese community in the north of Vietnam especially in Hanoi city, As such, Pastor Theng Wanting, led by the Holy Spirit, decided to venture to Hanoi in 2010 to start and establish a Chinese church there.
Though the journey of setting up a Chinese church in northern Vietnam posed many challenges for Pastor Theng, but by God's grace she was able to go through it all. With God’s blessing, and the help and support from various pastors, brothers and sisters in Christ in Vietnam and abroad, the congregation in the Hanoi Chinese Church grew in numbers over the years.
On 1 August 2013, Hanoi Chinese Church was officially affiliated to the Federal Council of Northern Christian Churches in Vietnam.
In 2014, Hanoi Chinese Church rented a four-storey building in My Dinh, Hanoi as the church premise. However, due to rental lease expiration, Hanoi Chinese Church later moved to its current premise to continue serving the Chinese Christian community in the region.
